Beauty | Problem Skin

Throughout my teens I suffered with the occasional spot but since this time last year I have suffered with hormonal skin each month. I have tried everything from skin care treatments to changing my diet but nothing seems to help.

img_0754This month I have started using La Roche-Posay Anti-blemish range and can notice such a difference already. I have only heard good things about this brand and couldn’t wait to try the 3 step system.

I waited for the product to go on offer in Boots saving over a third on the price. The deal is really good value giving you 3 full size products for under £25.

Step 1-  Effaclar Purifying Gel Cleanser: The gel purifies skin and gets rid of impurities and excess sebum to leave skin refreshed, soft and clear.

Step 2- Effaclar Clarifying Toner: The toner helps to reduce the appearance of pores and refresh the skin.

Step 3- Effaclar Duo (+) : This is my favourite step as my skin always looks clearer somehow as soon as I put it on. The cream gently exfoliates the skin to noticeably minimise the appearance of spots, unclog pores, control shine and help reduce the appearance of pigmentation marks and scars.

Beauty | My first beauty post

I can’t believe it’s been a year since my first post… times flies!

I remember I’d just been paid and couldn’t wait to treat myself to some new treats and thought it would be great idea to share my purchases with you guys.

Looking at the post I can see that although the content is much more detailed (some may say I rambled on) than my more recent posts but my photography skills have improved a little and I’m starting to create my style.

Beauty | Payday treats

Forwarding onto this payday I couldn’t help but treat myself once again! This month I went for the 3 for 2 offer in Superdrug picking up a few essentials.

L’Oreal True Match – This is a bloggers favourite high street foundation and I just love it. With over 28 shades available you can match your skin really well. I chose Rose Beige which is identical to my MAC Studio Fix in NW15. The coverage is great, hiding any imperfections needing only a little concealer to cover any redness. The foundation is dewy leaving a healthy glow and flawless finish.

L’Oreal Infalliable Mega Gloss in Amen – This gloss leaves your lips hydrated with a high level of shine for a glossy finish that lasts for hours- will definitely re-purchase.

L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes – This is a really good mascara leaving your lashes looking full and fanned out for maximum effect.

NYX Pore Filler – Unfortunately I suffer from deep pores on my t-zone and this product is great for extra cover. The filler is oil free meaning it doesn’t clog your pores any further. Apply this before foundation and you will notice such a difference.

What has you treated yourself to this payday? Xx

Travel | Bath

I can’t believe my sister has graduated and finished uni… it feels like only yesterday we dropped her off outside her first dorm. My sister attended Bath University so I always jumped at an opportunity to visit her in Bath.

Bath is such a beautiful place with so much history. There is so much to visit from the Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge (for any Les Mis fans!) to the Royal Crescent.

Her graduation was such a lovely day. The ceremony was in Bath Abbey which felt so special and such a privileged to attend the service there.

As I haven’t attended university myself I couldn’t resist trying on the gown!

September Save or Splurge | Zara

Zara is one of my all time favourite high street brands and I never leave the store empty-handed. As you all know from the previous post I am obsessed with Kimonos and instantly fell in love with this Gucci inspired ready-to-wear kimono with fur cuffs.

I couldn’t believe how similar it is to the Gucci kimono constantly featured in magazines worn by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Beyonce. At £79.99 the jacket isn’t cheap but the luxurious feel of the material and the bright print make it worth the price. I can guarantee this jacket will not be in the stores for long!

Beauty | Dermarolling

This year seems to be the year for weird and wonderful skin care routines from shaving your face to charcoal face masks that rip your skin off!

I’m all for trying anything that will give my skin a fresh glow and clear complexion so I tried out some of the latest game changing beauty regimes.

When my dermaroller arrived from Amazon I was so shocked at how sharp and scary the needles look. The roller is covered in tiny titanium needles that are supposed to help produce more collagen when rolled over your face a few times a month. The roller can be used to treat wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. I decided to go for the smallest needle length as I will just be using it on my face to improve the overall complexion which can be used a few times a week.

I have now been using the dermaroller for a few months and can notice some difference. I’ll be honest and say I think the roller may be a little overrated especially when used at home. That said, I don’t have many acne scars and was only using it to help give me a “glow.” I will say when teamed with the vitamin C capsules from The Body Shop there is a noticeable smoothness to my face.

T-Zone Charcoal & Bamboo Peel Off Mask

Peel off masks have become so popular with users becoming YouTube sensations with disaster videos! T-Zone have recently launched their own version of the product promising to draw out impurities peeling away blackheads. On first use I spread the product all over my face and left on for 20 minutes. The mask wasn’t painful to remove although a little sensitive around the nose area. On close inspection you could see all the tiny hairs and impurities on the mask which was satisfying. Since my first use I have used the product again but only on my T-Zone area as I don’t think you need it elsewhere. It leaves my skin looking refreshed and clear of blackheads.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

Last but not least my new favourite skin care brand! The Ordinary brand is starting to pop up everywhere. I managed to order my peeling solution from ASOS of all places.

The Peeling Solution is my new holy grail. The acid peeling solution is used to exfoliate the face leaving a brighter and more even appearance improving the texture and fine lines. I apply the bright red solution once a week leaving it on for 10-20 minutes and all the work has been done. My face looks refreshed and bright. I cannot wait to try all of the range especially the new super-hydrating hyaluronic acid that claims to leave your skin plump and firm.

What are your favourite skincare products of the moment? Xx
